Specific Responsibilities

 

The  Vice President, Field Operations  will be a member of Apache’s Operations team, reporting to the EVP, Operations and will oversee and manage all aspects of Production Operations, Drilling Operations, and Facilities Construction. This role requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, capable of driving operational excellence and ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance and will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Production Operations: Oversee daily production activities, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. Implement strategies to maximize production output while maintaining safety and environmental standards. 
  • Drilling Operations: Manage all drilling operations execution activities. Ensure that drilling operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and adhere to  standards.  
  • Facilities Construction: Lead construction of new facilities. Ensure that all projects are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.  
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term strategies for field operations. Align operational goals with the company's overall business objectives. 
  • Operational Excellence: Drive operational excellence through optimizing standards, processes, workflows, and resource allocation across all field functions.  
  • Continuous Improvement: Support the technical aspects of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize asset value.  
  • Performance Management: Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, provide mentorship, and promote professional development opportunities for direct reports to support career growth and succession planning.  
  • Stakeholder Management:  Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including other departments, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Communicate effectively to ensure alignment and support for operational initiatives.  
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to drive innovation and competitive advantage.  
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.  
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for field operations. Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures where possible.  
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments.

Qualifications & Experience

 

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

 

  • Experience with advanced drilling technologies and techniques
  • Extensive experience in onshore oil and gas field operations
  • Experience with offshore operations preferred
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 10 years in a leadership role 
  • Proven track record of managing production, drilling, and construction operations 
  • Strong understanding of industry regulations and standards
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets
