Specific Responsibilities
The Well Intervention Supervisor for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Production team at the company’s KPC office reporting to the Production Engineering Sr. Manager.The Well Intervention Supervisor leads and manages all well intervention activities, including Workover, Rigless, and well integrity operations, to maximize production, maintain asset integrity, and support business objectives. The role provides technical leadership, operational oversight, contractor management, and strategic planning while ensuring the highest standards of safety, operational excellence, and cost effectiveness.
The position serves as the company's focal point for well intervention engineering and execution, working closely with Production, Operations, Drilling, Reservoir, HSE, Supply Chain, and service providers to deliver safe, efficient, and technically sound intervention programs.
The Well Intervention Supervisor for Apache Corporation will be responsible for:
- Leadership & Management:Lead, coach, and develop the Well Intervention team, promoting safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
Set team objectives, priorities, and performance targets aligned with business goals.
Provide technical leadership and support during critical intervention activities. - Safety & Compliance:Lead safety performance across all well intervention activities.
Ensure compliance with company HSE standards, well control requirements, regulatory obligations, and industry best practices.
Support risk assessments, MOC processes, incident investigations, and risk mitigation activities. - Well Intervention Operations:
- Lead the planning, design, execution, and evaluation of workover and rigless interventions.
Review and approve intervention programs, procedures, equipment selection, and contingency plans.
Ensure activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. - Engineering & Technical Authority:
- Act as the technical authority for well intervention engineering, well integrity, well control, well kill design, barrier management, tubing/completion design, formation damage prevention, and production optimization interventions.
Evaluate new technologies and methods to improve operational efficiency and well performance.
Lead root cause analyses and corrective actions. - Planning & Coordination:
- Lead intervention planning and scheduling activities.
Coordinate with Production, Reservoir, Drilling, Facilities, Operations, Supply Chain, and HSE teams.
Ensure intervention plans support production targets and field development objectives.
Develop longer-term intervention strategies to maximize asset value. - Contract, Vendor & Cost Management:
- Manage service contracts, including tenders, evaluations, negotiations, extensions, vendor performance, and service quality.
Manage contractors and service providers, including SQMs and performance reviews.
Develop and manage intervention budgets, monitor spending, and identify cost optimization opportunities.
Review purchase orders, cost estimates, and contractor invoices. - Performance & Reporting:
- Establish and track intervention KPIs.
Analyze performance and drive improvement initiatives.
Prepare management reports covering operational performance, risks, opportunities, and budget status.
Capture and share lessons learned from intervention activities.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering
- Minimum 15 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience.
- Minimum 10 years in Well Intervention, Workover, Completion, or Production Engineering operations.
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary intervention teams.
- Significant experience in both rig-based and rigless intervention operations.
- Strong background in mature field operations and production optimization.
