Position Description & Duties:

The Workover Superintendent, for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Workover team at the company’s Midland, office reporting to the Workover and P&A Manager.
This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • EHS Leader for USON Workover Operations- Ensuring safety is prioritized with a focus on hazard identification and mitigation.  Significant time will be spent onsite with field operations required for auditing and operational safety assessments.
  • Responsible for providing day to day operational guidance to Workover Leads in conjunction with the Workover and P&A Manager and Workover Engineers.  
  • Ensure that Well control & Well Integrity standards are followed on all well operations. 
  • Familiarization with Apache Supervisor’s Safety and Health Compliance and State Environmental Compliance Manuals
  • Responsible for updating Apache’s Standard Operating Procedures to reflect current operational practices and communicating changes to workover leads. 
  • Review and comment on all repair procedures and methods liaising with Production Foreman and EHS professionals to mitigate hazards and eliminate environmental impact in Workover Operations. 
  • Capture operational trends and develop a culture of a learning organization. 
  • Assist in the scheduling of Workovers and Maintenance jobs to ensure efficient transitions and adequate assignment of Workover leads.  
  • Lead SORTS critiques related EHS events (HIPO, LTIs, and where needed First Aids), material spills, or major operational failures.   
  • Develop relationship with key vendors to address service quality issues and manage safety performance.   
  • Communicate and help resolve invoices challenges due to service quality issues or job failures.  
  • Perform/Coordinate all dismantle to determine root cause of failure for failed equipment as requested. 
  • Monitor the quality of WellView reporting for accuracy and completeness. (Daily Operations/Initial Failure Details/Tubing and Rod Detail)

Preferred & Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required 
  • 10+ years of related workover rig supervision experience required. 
  • Must be proficient in computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Outlook  
  • Excellent communication and grammar skills, exhibited both in conversation and written materials 
  • Current Well Control Certification
