Job Title:  Foreman Assistant - Wildfire

Specific Responsibilities

Oversee the supervision and training of pumpers and roustabouts; schedule and coordinate daily activities of subordinates and contract personnel; monitor and review production; evaluate problem wells and implement new technology for production enhancement.

 

  • Maximize production.
    • Minimize downtime by reacting quickly and decisively.
    • Recognize and generate workover prospects.
    • Review production daily with pumpers.
    • Develop solutions, not problems.
    • Use Scout to trend data and anticipate situations.
    • Minimize cost.
    • Review LOS monthly with pumpers to identify cost centers for reduction and control.
    • Identify and eliminate repetitive tasks and procedures that can be simplified or delegated.
    • Work with pumpers to identify cost anomalies on a well-by-well basis.
    • Review daily tickets and invoices to insure that Apache is receiving full value for services rendered.
    • Generate new ideas to reduce lifting costs. Review all phases of your operation to develop ideas.   

 

  • Effective supervision of pumpers and contractors.
    • Contract and company pumpers.
    • Communicate daily with pumpers.
    • Listen to pumpers suggestions and evaluate each thoroughly.
    • Use oral and written instructions effectively.
    • Provide a motivational atmosphere for pumpers; earn their respect through your positive actions.
    • Evaluate pumpers’ performance; recognize training needs and recommend training programs.
    • Assist pumpers with data trending and analysis.
  • Contractors.
    • Communicate with contractors as needed on a job-by-job basis, both orally and written.
    • Identify top performing contractors in terms of cost, job performance and reliability.
    • Maintain proper business relationship with contractors.
    • Deal with contractors in an ethical manner.
    • Direct contractors activities to ensure the most efficient use of labor and materials.
    • Implement work plans to minimize waiting time on the job.
    • Treat contractors equally; fairly, but firmly.
    • Address employee problems.

 

  • Technical competence.
    • Become familiar with the technical factors involved in oil and gas production, including:
    • Sucker rod design principles.
    • ESP and PC pump design and application.
    • Plunger lift design principles.
    • Application of oil field chemicals.
    • Fluid measurement.
    • Petroleum reservoir management.
    • Proper operation and maintenance of production equipment.
    • Subsurface equipment design and application.    

 

  • Administrative.
    • Process paperwork correctly and on time.
    • Prepare complete and detailed morning reports, as necessary.
    • Look for ways to reduce paperwork for yourself and the pumpers you supervise.
    • Use technology to ease your workload.
    • Process all invoices daily to speed paper flow.
    • Be aware of discounts and optimize the use of time.
    • Follow Apache bidding procedures and policies.
    • Cost estimation and job design; AFE preparation.
    • Track AFE costs.

 

  •  Asset control.
    • Safeguard all company assets.
    • Review operating procedures and identify potential problems before they occur.
    • Review all repair procedures and methods to insure that safety hazards and environmental impact(s) are minimized.
    • Review each project or job with the individual economics as an integral part of the procedure.
    • Consider Apache’s net position in each project you recommend.
    • Communicate policies and procedures as necessary with pumpers and contractors.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

 

  • High school diploma
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor.
  • Gather all the facts before making a recommendation.
  • Be familiar with well and equipment conditions.
  • Provide the necessary backup data.
  • Develop and use good listening skills.
  • Use change-out notes effectively.
  • Ensure that First Flow Forms are sent to the region office in a timely manner.
  • Lead by example, be informed, keep those you supervise well informed, be decisive and fair.
  • Instill a sense of urgency to all employees in the district.
  • Become a safety and environmental proponent.
  • Recognize problems and develop solutions with a minimum of coaching.
  • Identify and sort projects and work load in order of importance.
  • Accept and complete projects quickly and within budget guidelines.
  • Communicate upward and downward with the same zeal.
