Specific Responsibilities
We are seeking a Facilities Operations Engineer II or Senior Facilities Operations Engineer to serve as a critical interface between Facilities Engineering, Production Operations, and Production Engineering in the Permian Basin. This role is highly field-oriented and is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving real operational problems, troubleshooting facilities in partnership with field teams, and driving fit-for-purpose solutions that improve reliability, efficiency, and execution. This position will spend significant time in the field working directly alongside operations personnel to identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, support facility optimization efforts, and help ensure practical execution of projects and modifications. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals with operational awareness, construction knowledge, and a pragmatic mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary liaison between Facilities Engineering and Production Operations teams
- Establish strong field presence supporting operations and facility troubleshooting efforts
- Proactively identify operational bottlenecks, reliability issues, and optimization opportunities
- Work closely with Production Operations and Production Engineering to develop practical, fit-for-purpose solutions
- Support the design, modification, startup, troubleshooting, and optimization of upstream oil and gas facilities
- Provide engineering support for oil gathering systems, compression, tank batteries, centralized facilities, gas lift systems, and related infrastructure
- Support facility startups, operational upsets, and brownfield modifications
- Participate in project execution activities including scope development, field walkdowns, vendor coordination, construction support, and commissioning
- Ensure facility designs and modifications are constructible, operable, maintainable, and aligned with field realities
- Help drive a culture of practical engineering, cost awareness, operational partnership, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate across disciplines including operations, production engineering, construction, automation, and EHS teams
- Utilize operational and production data to support troubleshooting and performance improvement efforts

Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- Petroleum Engineering degree preferred
- Upstream oil and gas operator experience required
- Strong understanding of upstream production facilities and field operations
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting oil and gas production facilities in an operating environment
- Working knowledge of facility construction practices and field execution
- Ability to work effectively in field environments and active construction areas
- Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a company pickup truck
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with field operations personnel
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize issues, operate with urgency, and solve problems collaboratively
Preferred:
- Experience with oil gathering systems, compression, tank batteries, centralized facilities, and gas lift infrastructure
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, production data systems, and Power BI
- Experience supporting facility startups and commissioning activities
- Strong interdisciplinary understanding across facilities, production, operations, automation, and construction
- Experience balancing technical rigor with practical, cost-effective execution
