Specific Responsibilities


The USON Production Operations Chemical Manager oversees the application and management of chemical treatments in oil field operations. This role involves ensuring the effective use of chemicals to enhance oil recovery, reduce failure rates, prevent corrosion, and trouble shoot production issues. The manager will lead a team of chemical specialists, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and optimizing chemical processes to improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Leadership and Management:

 

  • Lead and manage a team of chemical specialists, technicians, and field chemical contract staff.
  • Develop and implement training programs for team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Support failure meetings.

 

Chemical Application and Management:

 

  • Oversee the application of chemical treatments in oil field operations.
  • Monitor and optimize chemical usage to enhance oil recovery and prevent issues such as scaling and corrosion.
  • Coordinate with field operations to ensure the effective implementation of chemical programs.

 

Safety and Compliance:

 

  • Ensure all chemical processes comply with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards.

 

Research and Development:

 

  • Lead R&D efforts with chemical providers to develop new chemical treatments and improve existing ones.
  • Collaborate with chemical SMEs to test and validate new formulations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in chemical technology.

 

Budget and Cost Management:

 

  • Develop and manage the chemical provider’s operations budget/contract.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Monitor expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Work closely with supply chain on chemical provider management and RFP processes.
     

Qualifications & Experience

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in oil field chemical operations or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical treatments and their application in oil field operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency in using chemical analysis software and tools.

 

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require frequent travel to oil field sites.
  • Ability to work in an oil field environment, including exposure to various chemicals and production equipment.
