Specific Responsibilities

 
 The Sr. Financial Accountant, for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Technical Accounting team which is responsible for various tasks within accounting including but not limited to:
 
•    Participating in implementation of the SEC’s announced rule on Climate Disclosures including: 
o    Assisting in developing and implementing a roadmap to implement the new rule.
o    Assisting in developing and implementation of relevant internal controls 
o    Working with control owners to ensure internal controls stay relevant as systems and processes change
o    Assisting in interpretation of the new rule and how, and if, it affects the Company.
o    Working with other internal stakeholders on implementation of the rule, including but not limited to, ESG, IT and operations.
•    Participating in analyzing Company transactions to ensure the appropriate application of US GAAP, including but not limited to:
o    Participating in the evaluation of new contracts to identify, analyze and conclude on technical accounting considerations, i/e, revenue recognition, lease accounting, derivative accounting, etc.
o    Participating in discussions related to significant Company transactions to identify and analyze any potential technical accounting considerations.
•    Monitoring standard-setters for latest accounting regulations, analyzes impact of new/emerging regulations on the Company, and ensure appropriate application and disclosure
•    Assisting in implementation of future new regulations and pronouncements
•    Helping with the review of SEC filings, 
•    Reviewing investor relations presentations, press releases, Proxy and other publications before they are released to ensure compliance with SEC regulations and consistency with SEC filings
•    Developing accounting policies and procedures for various accounting functions and promoting their consistent application throughout Apache  
•    Assisting with Special Projects as needed

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
 
•    2-5 years of public accounting experience strongly preferred
•    A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field 
•    CPA (preferred) 
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
•    Outstanding communication, interpersonal, management, administrative, organizational, and leadership skills
•    Experience implementing sound decisions when faced with multi-faceted problems
