Position Description:

The Supply Chain Sustainability Lead is responsible for driving the company toward best in class Supply Chain Sustainability performance. This individual will lead APA Corporation’s (APA) Supply Chain Sustainability Program including Supplier Diversity, Local Content, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Supplier Code of Conduct. The role requires a collaborative spirit, an understanding of ESG, Strategic Sourcing processes, Supplier Diversity best practices, and the ability to drive the development, implementation, and management program principles within APA. 

Specific Responsibilities:

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

1. Lead the development and implementation of APA’s Supply Chain Sustainability Program, including Supplier Diversity, Local Content, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Supplier Code of Conduct ensuring alignment with business objectives and outcomes;
2. Develop, own, maintain, and provide training on Supply Chain Sustainability Program Policies and Standards & Key Procedures;
3. Provide policy and process guidance and advice on all facets of supply chain management related to supplier diversity to increase the opportunities for and the utilization of diverse suppliers;
4. Establish and oversee Sustainability Program measurement strategies working with internal stakeholders to achieve goals with informed data and a comprehensive approach;
5. Assist in developing annual and multi-year program plans to help APA meet Supplier Diversity goals and continuously improve using effective internal and benchmark data, metrics, and reporting;
6. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and consistent engagement with diverse suppliers, driving positive outcomes;
7. Source, select, and manage APA’s Supplier Sustainability Database which will include: Supplier registration, supplier certifications, reports, etc,;
8. Develop and manage/monitor Supply Chain Sustainability content on APA’s external site including a Supplier Diversity portal and working with external ESG agencies;
9. Identify and help implement opportunities to make it straightforward and efficient for diverse suppliers to apply/qualify/partner with APA;
10. Manage and report on progress against organizational goals and ensure desired outcomes in a timely and fact-based way;
11. Collaborate with Category Management and Strategic Sourcing teams to measure and report diverse spend and activity (e.g., supplier, entity, enterprise levels);
12. Coordinate with Strategic Sourcing team to identify business opportunities to utilize diverse suppliers including understanding supply requirements and identifying/engaging qualified diverse suppliers for consideration in sourcing events;
13. Collaborate with Legal and the Contracts team to ensure the latest sustainability language is reflected in contract documents (e.g., human rights, labor practices, et al);
14. Contribute to various aspects of sourcing and overall supply chain management processes as it specifically relates to diverse businesses. This includes maintaining RFP content for supplier diversity maintaining information about diverse bidders and supplier relationship management meetings with diverse suppliers, etc.;
15. Lead efforts to develop the annual Supply Chain sustainability report;
16. Serve as primary point of contact for Supply Chain Sustainability program;
17. Champion Diversity & Inclusion efforts within Supply Chain;
18. Support efforts to build relationships with various local and regional diversity council organizations;
19. Establish and sustain mutually beneficial relationships with diverse suppliers;
20. Attend and represent APA at various local and national diversity conferences and meetings. Coordinate event schedules and the participation of other APA employees (e.g., matchmaking events to identify qualified candidates); and
21.  Perform other duties as requested that support the success of APA’s Sustainability Program.

Professional Qualifications & Experience:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or relevant discipline;
  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or relevant discipline is preferred;
  • Certified Professional of Supplier Diversity (CPSD) / Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent is preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years of Supply Chain Management, Business Improvement, Quality/Process Management, or related work experience working with diversity;
  • Knowledge or firsthand experience in Upstream Oil & Gas, Downstream Refining, Midstream, and/or Petrochemical business;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with supply chain applications and ERP systems (e.g., Ariba, SAP, etc.); 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.);
  • Demonstrated expertise in process design and procedural documentation; and
  • Strong track record of achieving objectives through effective collaboration and alignment.
