Specific Responsibilities
The Strategic Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of effective strategies and plans to achieve organizational goals. This position will analyze market and industry trends, assess business needs, and collaborate with various departments to create comprehensive plans that align with the company's objectives. Specifically, this team is focused on the corporate portfolio and long-range plan. Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills are essential for this role.
This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
- Collaborate with the asset teams and various corporate functions to develop financial plans that are underpinned by capital allocation decisions and base performance
- Manage long-range financial models and provide key insights on financial and operational metrics
- Identify, analyze and support portfolio opportunities, including A&D, through quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Develop and communicate key insights on Apache peers and the industry
- Liaise and support other corporate groups (Investor Relations, Treasury, Business Development, Accounting, etc.) for various recurring and ad-hoc projects
- Provide analytical support to the executive team for BOD meetings, earnings calls, etc.
- Lead a small team of staff with focus on future development
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, engineering or similar (MBA/CFA preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in planning
- Experience or demonstrate ability to manage a team
- Significant experience in similar roles within the oil and gas industry is required (investment banking, management consulting or big four accounting experience to be considered)
- Capability to create and maintain a 3-statement corporate financial model along with associated financial metrics and ability to understand economic models across Apache’s diverse asset base
- Develop scenarios that will shed light on question asked and communicate insights in a concise & powerful way
- Ability to understand Apache’s corporate and asset-level strategy and how that determines short-, mid-, and long-term development plans
- Understanding of the peer landscape and industry operations across different assets/countries
- Effectively communicate to all levels of leadership on a consistent basis
- Highly analytical, results-driven individual with the capacity to efficiently work with and influence teams
