Position Description & Duties:

The State Government and Community Affairs Representative for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Governmental Affairs team at the company’s Houston, TX office reporting to the Manager, Government Affairs and Community Partnerships.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Serve as public face of Apache Corporation on state legislative, regulatory and community matters 
  • Build relationships and influence key stakeholders to help maintain and protect Apache Corp’s reputation in the US onshore communities in which it operates through strategic communications and partnerships 
  • Monitor and review proposed state legislation and regulations, and assess their potential impact on the company in coordination with internal clients;
  • Develop appropriate positions and responses in conjunction with their client regions and with other affected departments within the company; 
  • Work with state trade associations, working groups and contractors on issue-specific efforts to ensure that legislation, rules and regulations serve the best interests of the company.
  • Responsible for all state industry and trade association relations both at the state level;
  • Collaborate with Federal Government Affairs advisor to ensure consistency of company policy positions at the local, state, federal and international levels; and,
  • Advocate for company positions, lead coalitions of like-minded companies in the industry to support or oppose legislation and proposed new rules and regulations.

Preferred & Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Must have experience in state or federal government;
  • Prefer individual with 5 or more years of experience in government affairs; and
  • Must possess degree in law, political science, business or engineering related to Oil and Gas industry. Advanced degrees preferred.
