Job Title:  Senior Reserves Engineering Tech

Specific Responsibilities

The Reserves Eng. Tech. Analyst Sr works closely with engineers, geologists, and other professionals, translating data into information and providing valuable input based on their practical experience. Their ability to work in teams and adapt to changing project requirements is crucial for the smooth functioning of any workflow. The ability to identify and reconcile data conflicts between systems is vital. They provide structure to a business process workflow. All business process workflows must address regulatory compliance, governance, external and internal audit, and assess and mitigate risk.  

 

  • Continually verify up to date data in the reserves system/databases 
  • Provide and manage data from internal and external applications and software 
  • Provide user support for technical software applications 
  • Ensure that others conduct daily research to maintain the reserves system up to date facilitating both reserves assessments and economic evaluations; Daily monitoring to capture new wells, facilities, cost centers, daily/monthly gross production history, and the associated cross-reference to the various source systems 
  • Coordinate all information from internal and external databases sources for review and use by the Asset Teams and/or Reserves; Build and maintain complex SQL queries and/or databases to support departmental workflows 
  • Provide quality control and assurance for reserves system data attributes and economic data 
  • Design and maintain evaluation tools to facilitate data analytics, research and reconciliation of source data originating from disparate systems across the Company 
  • Identify and implement process improvements related to existing and evolving workflows 
  • Design reports and graphics to facilitate data analysis using Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI, etc. 
  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary to acquire information, report data or activities 
  • Maintain and enhance SQL Server databases, data collation and manipulation, and defining data workflows 
  • Provide key and non-key SOX Control audit support as needed 
  • Fulfill ad hoc data requests from other departments as needed 

Skills

  • Understanding of upstream and downstream oil and gas industry and terminology 
  • Basic understanding of audit evidence, documentation and procedures (e.g., PCAOB) 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with multi-disciplinary team 
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and consistently meet project deadlines 
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and utilize computer systems and applications as tools for analysis 
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and critical thinking skills 
  • Desire to learn new technology and systems 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively explain project workflows or analyses to the Reserves and/or Asset Teams 

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, associate degree or a postsecondary certificate in engineering technology or a related field. 
  • 6+ years Reservoir Engineering Technician experience with E&P Company 
  • Prior experience using database and engineering software, including Mosaic, Avocet, S&P Enerdeq (IHS Markit)/Enverus (DrillingInfo), WellView, OFM, ComboCurve, Sahara, Harmony/Whitson, Spotfire/Power BI, SQL Server, Access, Excel, and Enersight 
  • Membership in SPE Petro-Tech encouraged.
