Specific Responsibilities

The Production Engineer Sr - Delaware Basin, for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Production Engineering department at the company's Houston office, reporting to the Production Engineering Sr Manager - Delaware Basin.


This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
• Work directly with Production Operations, Workover Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Facilities, Land, Geoscience, and Planning to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-efficient reactive well repair and proactive optimization projects
• Identify & design optimum artificial lift method associated with new wells and/or artificial lift conversions. Ensure costs/invoices are consistent with quote or proposal.
• Develop solutions to mitigate well integrity issues taking into consideration cost and risk profile.
• Develop and evaluate cost reduction, reliability and/or debottlenecking projects.
• Work closely with vendor and ESP SME to select and execute appropriate ESP system for all applicable wells including inventory consumption.
• Develop Root Cause and mitigation recommendations associated with any failures within artificial lift systems.
• Ensure acreage is maintained via collaborating with Land and Operations teams by developing clear action plans for any critical well before leasehold is compromised.
• Work directly with Asset function members to ensure plan delivery of asset P&L (including updates & KPIs).
• Coordinate and act as focal point for all asset performance reviews.
• Identify and progress proactive/discretionary production uplift opportunities (e.g. artificial lift optimizations, recompletions, stimulations, water shut-offs, clean-outs, etc.).
• Identify and provide basis of design for new drill well artificial lift strategy and flowback procedures.
• Provide justification and authorization for all workovers, well interventions, and surveillance activities.
• Perform risk management assessments to ensure wellbore integrity on any Apache operated offset well to mitigate against frac hits or any other SimOps activity whether it be operated or non-operated.
• Engage partners as applicable and provide input to partner reviews.
• Production engineering support to projects as necessary (e.g. full field development including infrastructure, nodal analysis, etc.).
• Perform cost center level income reviews to ensure economic production from wells and leases.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering required, from a competitive four-year college or university, with strong academic credentials.
• 6+ years of experience working for energy companies, in production engineering and production operations.
• Must be proficient in all Microsoft applications and other E&P computer applications (i.e: Wellview, Cygnet, Spotfire, OFM, Foresite, Wellflo, Prosper, Rodstar, etc).
• High level of production engineering expertise with experience in all types of operations related to the full life cycle of oil & gas producer wells, including:
    o Completions, recompletions, and workovers.
    o Artificial lift design, installation, and troubleshooting.
    o Nodal analysis (Inflow/Outflow performance).
    o Secondary recovery (water flooding) and EOR.
    o Facilities upgrades/modification and production takeaway limitations.
• Proven track record of financial performance and responsibility with experience in budget and schedule planning, AFE preparation and economic evaluation.
• Experience implementing sound decisions when faced with multi-faceted problems.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical vision, contribute to team goals, and mentor engineering talent.
