Specific Responsibilities

The Petrophysicist II is responsible for analyzing and interpreting petrophysical data to provide valuable insights and recommendations to support oil and gas exploration, development, and production activities. They work closely with geoscientists and engineers to evaluate reservoir properties, identify potential hydrocarbon zones, and optimize well placement and production strategies. The Petrophysicist II utilizes advanced software and tools to integrate and analyze well logs, core samples, and other data sources to characterize reservoir rock properties, fluid saturations, and permeability.  They provide guidance and analysis for well design, casing placement, mud weight estimation, and target identification.  They also contribute to reservoir modeling and simulation efforts to estimate reserves and forecast production performance. Strong analytical skills, knowledge of petrophysical theories and techniques, and experience with industry-standard software are essential for success in this role.  The Petrophysicist II will be part of a multi-disciplinary team to explore, assess, and develop Apache’s Delaware Basin assets, primarily responsible for reservoir characterization.  This position is based in Houston reporting to the Delaware Asset geoscience manager.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
• Perform petrophysical analyses of unconventional and conventional reservoirs incorporating log, core and production data.
• Support logging operations, reservoir studies, and performance evaluations focusing on efforts to optimize development operations and recovery, including conventional and unconventional reservoirs by working within cross-functional teams.
• Provide inputs for volumetric assessment and in place estimation.
• Plan and oversee the execution of well logging and coring acquisition programs with minimal supervision.
• Share best practices knowledge for petrophysical applications and evaluation processes with engineers and geoscientists.
• Provide recommendations for well design, mud weight estimation, target identification, and completion optimization with SME support as needed.
• Provide and make recommendations to the team on the optimal acquisition programs for rocks and fluids.
