Specific Responsibilities

 

A Tax Sr Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of local country and U.S international income tax provision, compliance and planning within an organization. They provide guidance and support to the tax team, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax returns, managing tax audits, and implementing tax strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities. Additionally, Tax Sr Managers stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and advise the organization on the potential impact of these changes. They also collaborate with other departments to ensure tax implications are considered in business decisions and transactions. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills are essential for success in this role.

 

  • Reviewing of annual local country tax returns and detailed workpapers
  • Reviewing of annual Informational Returns of U.S. Persons with Respect to Certain Foreign Corporations, Certain Foreign Partnerships, Foreign Disregarded Entities, Foreign Branches and detailed workpapers 
  • Reviewing of monthly, quarterly and annual local country current and deferred income tax calculations under US GAAP
  • Preparing and reviewing Form 10-K tax footnote and MD&A 
  • Reviewing annual local country Statutory Account income tax calculations and tax footnote
  • Reviewing of U.S. international and local country return-to-accrual calculations and tax basis balance sheet calculations
  • Advising on and implementing potential and enacted international tax reform provisions that impact U.S. and foreign income tax calculations
  • Reviewing quarterly U.S. international permanent item calculations
  • Advising on international tax items in the Company’s monthly Outlook and 5-year Plan models
  • Directing the processes regarding timely recognition of period specific income tax matters including tax law changes, valuation allowance changes and changes to income tax estimates
  • Ensuring all necessary internal controls are in place in the tax accounting area and that they are properly documented in accordance with Sarbanes/Oxley requirements

 

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline
  • An MPA or comparable post-graduate degree is highly desired
  • 10+ years of experience working for and/or with large energy companies that have worldwide assets and operations
  • CPA license preferred
  • Knowledge of the corporate/international tax function, including experience consulting for and/or working with oil and gas exploration and production businesses
  • Knowledge of income tax preparation and review, preferably in an oil and gas upstream industry
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, management, administrative, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Experience implementing sound decisions when faced with multi-faceted problems
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate vision, set team goals, strengthen an organization, engage employees, build teams, and develop talent
  • Experience leading and managing high performing teams that deliver strong results
