Position Description & Duties:

The Federal Govvernment Affairs Advisor for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Governmental Affairs team at the company’s Houston, TX office reporting to the Manager, Government Affairs and Community Partnerships.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Monitor and review proposed federal legislation and regulations, and assess their potential impact on the company in coordination with internal clients;
  • Develop appropriate positions and responses in conjunction with their client regions and with other affected departments within the company; 
  • Work with trade associations and working groups on issue-specific efforts
  • Interface with members and staff of US Congress and regulatory agencies to ensure that legislation, rules and regulations serve the best interests of the company
  • Responsible for all federal/international industry and trade association relations at the federal level, with the expectation to assume leadership positions on committees, task forces and other issue-specific occasions within the group;
  • Advocate for company positions, lead coalitions of like-minded companies in the industry to support or oppose legislation and proposed new rules and regulations, as required;
  • Responsible for preparing reports and conducting briefings for all levels of Apache senior management;
  • Serve as the public and political face for Apache Corporation on federal legislative and regulatory matters including making presentations, participating in news conferences, public hearings on issues, conferences and seminars; and
  • Assist Manager of Government Affairs & Community Partnerships with international government affairs, including engagement with U.S. diplomats and U.S. State Department;
  • Participate in meetings, deliberations and recommendations of ApachePAC; and attend political fundraisers as necessary; and,
  • Collaborate with State Government and Community affairs representative to ensure consistency of company policy positions at the local, state, federal and international levels.

Preferred & Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Must have experience in federal government 
  • Prefer individual with 8-10 or more years of experience in government affairs; and
  • Must possess degree in law, political science, business or engineering related to Oil and Gas industry. Advanced degrees preferred.
