Specific Responsibilities

the Facilities Engineer Sr. will be a member of Apache’s Facilities Engineering Team at he company’s Houston office reporting to the Facilities Engineering Manager.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Support asset team planning activities to ensure proposed projects are evaluated to select the most cost-effective solution that meets overall objectives.
  • Coordination across functional teams (operations, engineering, measurement, automation, environmental, regulatory, safety, supply chain, fabricators, contractors & inspection personnel) on detailed design, layout, equipment selection, sizing & facility operating strategy.
  • Experience with actively managing, tracking and reporting on multiple simultaneous projects while meeting safety, budgetary, schedule and operational objectives.
  • Development of the Scope of Work (SOW), cost estimate, Project Execution Plan (PEP), Design Basis Memorandum (DBM), and Authorization of Funds Expenditure (AFE) documents necessary to obtain project approvals.
  • Experience with verifying facility designs and confirming the selection and sizing of production equipment, safety devices, control valves, dump valves and regulators.
  • Coordination of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) review to ensure likely operating conditions are evaluated and addressed in the Cause & Effect (C&E) technical document.
  • Review and approval of construction drawings and RFQ packages through coordination with third party engineering firms, construction foreman & operations personnel.
  • Ability to walk down facilities and use existing engineering/vendor/operational data to identify and analyze potential process changes/improvements to meet operational goals.
  • Ensure Management of Change (MOC) approvals are identified and evaluated where required.
  • Coordination of commissioning plans and Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSR) to ensure a smooth handoff of changes to operations.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or an equivalent degree.
  • 6+ years of facilities engineering experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to develop, execute, and track project activity.
  • Technical knowledge and industry experience necessary to apply sound engineering standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements without supervision.
  • Knowledge of surface equipment, process conditions, and safety systems typically present on Central Tank Batteries (CTB) and Central Gathering Compression (CGC) installations. 
  • Technical knowledge and experience necessary to support construction startup and commissioning, diagnose operational issues and provide technical guidance to field personnel.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills utilizing MicroSoft Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, Viseo, Project. Able to adjust communications for the target audience.
  • Proficiency with modelling software, such as Aspen Hysys, ProMax, and PipeSim.
