Position Description & Duties

 

The Director of Global Digital Strategy for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s corporate Administration leadership team, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Administration. This key role will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Consult with and coordinate through line-of-business leadership to identify business outcomes and strategic imperatives, to which digital capability can contribute and / or differentiate Apache;
  • Establish global framework for digital capabilities across core upstream functional areas, and the executable roadmap(s) for achieving those objectives;
  • Work on behalf of cross-functional teams, including information technology, technical disciplines (Exploration, Development, Operations), and other stakeholders;
  • Manage portfolio of projects and service offerings in support of line-of-business improvements via enhanced use of digital technology;
  • Generate benefit analyses and lookback processes to project pre-investment value, fully-burdened cost of ownership, and incremental returns of digital initiatives;
  • Act on behalf of Apache and affiliates to monitor the digital service provider ecosystem, including field technology, information technology and consulting service providers;
  • Work directly with business partners to define, validate, scope, and track solution development efforts;
  • Vet and evaluate third-party technology vendors and partners in accordance with business priorities and opportunities; and 
  • Coordinate with Information Technology to align technology impacts with enterprise architecture, standards, and practices.
     

Preferred & Minimum Requirements

 

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Knowledge of digital technology use cases, and experience consulting for and/or working with oil and gas exploration and production businesses;
  • At least 15 years of experience working for and/or with large energy companies with global operations; 
  • Demonstrated experience in migrating “traditional” (i.e., paper-based, human-based, and field-to-headquarters) business processes into secure, performant digital equivalents.
  • Proven expertise in validating digital business objectives and delivering tangible results via cost savings, revenue generation, safety assurance, and risk mitigation strategies;
  • Familiarity and demonstrated expertise in technology adoption and implementation life cycle activities;
  • Demonstrated success in defining management of change strategies as part of shift to digital execution;
  • Proficient in direct customer interaction, including prospect identification, requirements gathering, delivery communications cadence, testing, and change management;
  • High degree of market awareness related to technology service providers and advancements;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate vision, set team goals, strengthen an organization, engage employees, build teams, and develop talent;
  • Experience leading and managing high-performing, diverse development teams; 
  • Consulting delivery experience as a technical architect, delivery lead and/or product portfolio manager;
  • A Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; and
  • An MBA or comparable post-graduate degree is highly desired.
