Specific Responsibilities

The Pilot for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Aviation Department at the company’s Houston office reporting to the Chief Pilot.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring that a flight will not be continued beyond the nearest suitable aerodrome if a flight crew member appears to be affected by injury, sickness, fatigue, the effects of any psychoactive substance, or lack of oxygen;
  • Ensuring compliance with Operational Control procedures as described in the Operations Manual; 
  • Checking weather, all applicable NOTAMs where available, and determining fuel, oil and oxygen requirements; 
  • Confirming an aircraft preflight inspection has been performed per the aircraft flight manual before each departure; 
  • Determining aircraft weight and balance; 
  • Performing runway analysis for the required airports; 
  • Ensuring that all flight planning requirements have been met; 
  • Ensuring that aircraft crew members have valid government issued Radiotelephone Operator permits, medical and pilot certificates, passports and visas if required; 
  • Briefing the passengers in accordance with the requirements specified in the Standard Operating Procedures chapter; 
  • Operating the aircraft in accordance with operator procedures and aircraft limitations; 
  • Ensuring compliance with customs, immigration and cabotage laws;
  • Supporting and participating in the Safety Management System;
  • Recording flight times and aircraft defects; and
  • Comply with the before, during, and after flight obligations of the RA (Risk Assessment) in the Baldwin SMS portal.

 

Additionally, the role may serve as a mentor for the training and development of crewmembers in techniques, methods, and daily activities in accordance with Apache Corporation policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Specific responsibilities in this regard include: 

  • Encouraging and using effective CRM in the management of the crew; 
  • Briefing crewmembers prior to a flight on all aspects of the flight; 
  • Supervision of crewmembers throughout the flight, including flight preparation and flight documentation; 
  • Discussion with crewmembers regarding their duties and responsibilities; and 
  • Monitoring the crew's professional behavior. 

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate for the category and class aircraft to be operated; 
  • Current and appropriate required medical certificate; 
  • Type Rating for the aircraft operated, if required; 
  • Holds a valid aeronautical Radiotelephone Operator permit; 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language; and 
  • Holds a valid and current passport.
