Position Description & Duties:

The Commercial Manager will be a member of Apache’s Corporate Development team at the Houston, TX office reporting to the Commercial Director – International & New Ventures. 

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Liaise with key project stakeholders, including joint venture partners including operators and non-op, international government officials, and various internal Apache stakeholders;
  • Distribute project information and progress reports to various key stakeholders;
  • Play crucial role in ensuring optimal interface and strategic/operational alignment with various functional organizations (Supply, Ops, Project, Drilling, etc);
  • Support commercial aspects of Corporate Development activities;
  • Develop external network at senior levels and form long-term opportunities with co-producers and other stakeholders;
  • Partner with other regions’ commercial teams to share best practices pertinent to the global crude & gas strategy;
  • Review external landscape and Apache results to define and deliver the international project strategy;
  • Support supply/operations decisively and quickly;
  • Negotiate directly with key accounts whenever needed;
  • Provide commercial feedback to project stakeholders on the project infrastructure impact on marketing activities and offtake options;
  • Provide support for the analysis and negotiation of oil and gas offtake options and agreements;
  • Support strategy and execution of spot sales as needed;
  • Develop short/long-term marketing/contracting plans and strategies;
  • Manage interfaces, contracts, and relationships; and,
  • Contribute to global crude & gas marketing business and strategy

Preferred & Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • 10+ years experience as a commercial professional in a business-to-business environment;
  • Proven experience and /or knowledge of the upstream exploration and production business environment;
  • Experience with offshore production facilities;
  • Experience with greenfield offshore projects involving crude oil and natural gas offtake options;
  • Demonstrated experience identifying value improvement opportunities;
  • Experience with NOC relations;
  • Excellent communication and commercial negotiation skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical education preferred;
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred; and,
  • Fluency in Spanish, French and/or Dutch a plus.
