Accountant II - Owner Relations

Specific Responsibilities

The Accountant II will be a member of Apache’s Owner Relations Accounting team, reporting to the Accounting Manager.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Coordinate Check Write monthly for the owner level and company level runs. Includes managing the process in PRA, ensuring files are sent successfully to the bank, print & mail vendor, and web host vendor, and prepare monthly metrics. Work closely with Revenue Accounting and Land Data Management.
  • Coordinate the monthly excessive check review; perform analysis, work with Revenue and Land Data Management to resolve issues identified, create SOX support packets.
  • Respond to Owner Inquiries – perform analysis, work with Revenue, Land Data Management, Operations, Legal, Marketing, and other departments when necessary to formulate a response to owners.
  • Assist with annual 1099 reporting; perform analysis, make corrections where necessary before filings are finalized. 
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, with emphasis on Returned Royalties
  • Assist with projects as needed including but not limited to system testing, process invoices from third party vendors, statutory interest calculations, and other functional tasks related to Owner Relations.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting; other field of study may be considered when combined with a minimum of 12 completed accounting hours.
  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience required. 
  • Knowledge of accounting and oil & gas industry terminology, a plus.
  • Proficient Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, TEAMS, and Outlook.
  • Experience with SAP, and EnergyLink preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills, administrative and organizational skills.
  • Able to work well in a team setting with consistent and professional interactions and approachability with team members.
  • Handles complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
