Specific Responsibilities

The IT Business Operations Analyst II at Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Information Technology team at the company’s Houston office reporting to the IT Services & Support Sr Manager.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Maintain configuration item (CI) attributes and reconcile discrepancies in data;
  • Liaison with other IT groups to raise awareness, educate and gain support of CMDB processes;
  • Create and maintain process documentation;
  • Produce configuration status account reports for infrastructure teams for operation tasks;
  • Conduct configuration audit checks to reconcile physical IT data with CMDB, and initiate change
  • workflow processes as needed to update data reconciliation processes;
  • Work with other process owners to develop and ensure tight integration and handoff points;
  • Interacting and consulting with appropriate business analysts to understand application requirements.
  • Defines architectural components to meet those requirements and how ongoing architectural changes will affect CMDB dependencies;
  • Defining CI attributes and understanding how to reconcile data inconsistencies;
  • Establishing protocol (for example, incident, problem, change, asset or service level) for communicating with intersecting process owners/managers to Ensure that CMDB data is achieving its goals;
  • Being familiar with the CMDB activity cycle; and
  • Having knowledge of installed or soon-to-be-installed dependency mapping solution.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Familiarity with Information Technology Infrastructure Library changes and configuration management processes. Certification is nice to have;
  • Strong process improvement experience, and experience developing metrics and quantifying value returned;
  • Possess team leadership skills to galvanize IT domains (such as networking, storage or application management) and ensure they actively work toward a common goal;
  • Communication skills for regular reporting on the performance and metrics of the program to senior management and stakeholders;
  • Technical background (preferably in one or more areas of configuration management);
  • Database development and an understanding of data structures, data schemas and data modeling; cross-domain experience with ancillary applications (such as security) for a broad understanding of critical intersections of the CMDB;
  • For established initiatives, the CMDB lead must be familiar with the specific installed CMDB solution;
  • Develop and determine trusted data sources and the reconciliation process, as well as schedule the update process;
  • Experience with cost justification of IT operation projects;
  • Experience with budgeting, project planning and other experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Information Technology.
