Specific Responsibilities
The Manager, Crisis Management, for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s EH&S team at the company’s Houston office reporting to the VP, Environment, Health, and Safety, EH&S.
This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
- Lead the Crisis Management global team to drive proactive preparedness and business continuity across all operations;
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external emergency management regulations and protocols;
- Manage global emergency response training and exercise programs;
- Provide oversight on problem management process consisting of problem identification, prioritization, resolution, and reporting;
- Thoroughly understands operational risks pertaining to field operations to support maintenance of related policies and standards;
- Support issue and risk oversight related to Business Continuity and Crisis Management;
- In coordination with the assets, provide strategic and proactive consultation in identifying risk exposures and in evaluating solutions for areas of improvement and regulatory compliance;
- Identify and communicate themes, trends, and emerging crisis management risks to leadership;
- Create workplace health and safety plans and procedures, including emergency medical evacuation plans. Recommend and implement risk management solutions such as safety policies, business continuity plans, recovery measures, etc. among all company entities as needed;
- Establish policies and procedures to identify, address, and remedy emergency response risks among all company entities;
- Draft, prepare, and present after action reports and proposals to executive leadership and senior staff;
- Stay abreast of all safety protocols and new legislation and regulations and update as needed;
- Serve as point of contact for numerous oil and gas industry groups and associations;
- Manage budget and expenditures; and
- Domestic and international travel required.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Risk Management, Political Science, Finance, Occupational Safety, Human Resources, or related field preferred;
- Must be an engaged team player with a mindset focused on continuous improvement;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a shown ability to articulate effectively;
- Ability to effectively present to various levels of the organization;
- Strong presentation building skills;
- Solutions-oriented;
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Extensive experience leading teams and influencing others across functions;
- Required experience in majority of the following domains: Incident Command System, Business Continuity, Emergency Response planning and response, Emergency Response Exercise Design;
- Strong social skills with the ability to build relationships with peers across the organization;
- Must be a self-starter and comfortable operating independently, and be able to navigate with autonomy; provide updates on progress, re-confirm priorities, and seek to clarify/help in the event of roadblocks; and
- Onshore and offshore emergency response preparedness experience preferred.
