Specific Responsibilities

 

The External Communications Rep Sr is a senior-level role responsible for managing and executing corporate communication strategies and initiatives. They work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver key messages that enhance the company's reputation and brand image. This role involves creating and implementing communication plans, writing and editing content for various channels, and managing media relations. The Corporate Communications Rep Sr plays a crucial role in maintaining consistent and effective communication across the organization.

 

General

 

  • Develop, organize and maintain message resources, such as talking points, Q&As, fact sheet content, etc. using multiple internal and external sources.
  • Write content in many forms and styles: news releases, media advisories, presentations, speaking notes and full remarks, talking points, advertisements, video scripts, social media posts, annual reports, etc.
  • Work closely with all other members of the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs team to accomplish goals. Serve as a back-up to other members of the team.
  • Collaborate with the Creative and Internal teams to produce integrated communications products that support communication goals and uphold Apache’s brand. This could include video scripts, written articles, emails, content for infographics or other media. Specific Role Responsibilities 
  • Prepare and verify responses to news media inquiries, working closely with subject matter experts across the company to ensure accuracy, consistency and timely response.
  • Prepare briefing documents for company spokespersons prior to stakeholder and media engagements, including prepared remarks and speeches, executive briefs, background briefs on issues, reporters and publications.
  • Serve as a back-up company spokesperson.
  • Respond to requests for interviews and work with reporters and company personnel to manage that process, including fact checking and following up with the reporter after the interview.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of a social media strategy, executed across all company platforms.
  • Manage Apache’s presence and engagement on social media. Serve as primary team member responsible for social planning, content creation and posting.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of externally focused content on ApacheCorp.com.
  • Serve as member of the crisis response team.
  • Maintain and update the Corporate Commnications Plan, plan exercises and other training events.
  • Assist with additional communications projects or initiatives as needed, including supporting the Communications, Government Affairs and Community Partnerships teams with fact checking, copy review, and proofreading. 

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 6+ years of professional communications experience in agency, consulting or corporate setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of English language, grammar, spelling and AP Stylebook required.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Teams meetings and Live Events.
  • Demonstrated writing skills for a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
