Specific Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be based in Houston, Texas and serve as a senior advisor for Alaska North Slope exploration and development, bringing deep expertise in coastal plain fluvial and shallow marine clastic systems. They will drive high-quality subsurface interpretation, prospect generation, and field development strategy across the Alaska North Slope petroleum system, applying advanced geological methods to reduce uncertainty and support high-value drilling and investment decisions. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of hydrocarbon discovery and broad global experience. This role requires strong proficiency in seismic interpretation across all scales, from regional analysis to prospect-level evaluation. They will exhibit strong technical leadership and a consistent ability to influence stakeholders across the organization and the wider industry. Success in this role also depends on excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical concepts effectively to executive leadership, industry audiences, and in peer-reviewed publications.
- Apply insights from analogous basins worldwide to refine depositional models, reservoir prediction, and play extension
- Apply advanced sequence stratigraphy, depositional systems analysis, and structural interpretation to predict reservoir presence, quality, and continuity
- Characterize reservoir heterogeneity and compartmentalization using both local data and global analog frameworks
- Support development planning through precise well placement, reservoir connectivity analysis, and depletion strategy insights
- Lead advanced interpretation workflows (in Petrel) and integrated subsurface modeling incorporating best practices gained from global operations
- Help drive technically complex, high-impact projects, critical to North Slope asset value
- Mentor geoscientists by transferring global learnings, analog frameworks, and advanced interpretation approaches
- Collaborate with engineering and operations to translate geologic insight into optimized development under Arctic constraints
- Represent the company as a technical authority in partner and industry settings
Skills
- Deep expertise in North Slope petroleum systems, especially Brookian topsets, turbidites, and legacy reservoirs (Kuparuk, Prudhoe Bay)
- Experience conducting probabilistic volumetric evaluations in GeoX, Rose RA or other similar applications
- Strong track record in lead generation, prospect maturation, and development geology
- Advanced seismic interpretation and well log/core integration in clastic environments (using Petrel)
- Reservoir characterization and geologic modelling of coastal plain fluvial to shallow marine clastic systems.
- Solid understanding of well design, completion engineering, drilling constraints, and operating in Arctic operating conditions
- Strong business acumen, including economic screening and value of information
- Effective communicator with ability to influence technical and business decisions
- Proven mentor and technical leader
