Specific Responsibilities
A Senior Completions Engineer is responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of well completions and workovers in the oil and gas industry. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize well performance, ensure compliance with regulations, and maximize production efficiency. This role involves analyzing data, conducting risk assessments, selecting appropriate equipment and materials, and managing project budgets and timelines. Senior Completions Engineers also provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring the successful execution of completion operations.
- Design and implement new completions on all wells across the Permian Basin. This will involve writing procedures, seeing that they are properly executed, and that improvements are constantly pursued.
- Must have expertise in fracturing technology and practice, wireline and coiled tubing procedures, and be able to interact closely with field foremen and wellsite completions consultants.
- The position will also require field time to see that procedures are done properly and which issues are influencing implementation.
- Well designs for horizontal wells.
- Knowledge of drill string, casing and cementing designs.
- Preparing operational plans for proposed wells.
- Ensures the fracturing activities of wells are carried out in an efficient and safe manner.
- Will write and review job procedures and or recommendations.
- Participate in field reviews, optimization studies, and gather local operational knowledge/experience.
- Cost estimates and AFE preparation.
- Interface with regulatory agencies as needed.
- Field Supervision: field time is necessary.
- Ability to communicate with field personnel and vendors.
- Knowledge of frac modeling and pressure transient analysis
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- BS/MS/Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in completion engineering
- Recent completions role with permian operator experience a plus
- Field operations experience
- Service Company experience a plus.
