Specific Responsibilities
The Position Turnaround Planning and Execution Lead for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Operations/Asset Integrity team, reporting to the Asset Integrity Manager.
This position is an individual contributor role as Turnaround Planning and Execution Lead seconded to APACHE/EGPC JV, Khalda Petroleum Company.
The Turnaround Planning and Execution Lead is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, scheduling and execution of plant turnarounds. This role ensures that all planning activities are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and safely, in alignment with the organization’s goals and operational requirements. The successful candidate serves as the central point of contact between departments, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver a successful shutdown event.
Responsibilities for this role are:
• Lead the planning phase of turnaround events, including scope development, worklist finalization, resource planning, and cost estimation.
• Develop and maintain turnaround schedules (Level 3/4) using planning tools such as Primavera P6.
• Ensure work packages are complete, accurate, and issued on time, including job steps, materials, manpower, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, procurement, and HSE teams to gather input and ensure alignment, and influence decisions.
• Establish and lead planning meetings, ensuring milestones are tracked and achieved.
• Identify critical path activities and potential schedule risks, developing mitigation plans where necessary.
• Manage planning KPIs and deliverables, tracking progress and performance against plans.
• Support contractor onboarding, mobilization, and readiness reviews.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, safety policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Carry out field visits to familiarize with turnaround scopes, special facility requirements, logistics, and contractors.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 10 years in maintenance or turnaround planning, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong experience with CMMS (Oracle, Maximo, etc.) and scheduling tools (Primavera P6).
• Solid understanding of shutdown/turnaround processes, job packaging, and work order planning.
• Familiarity with budgeting, cost tracking, and contractor coordination.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and piping systems.
• Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and best practices.
• Industry experience in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical
• Certification in Planning & Scheduling (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP) is a plus.
• Knowledge and practical experience in inspection programs and techniques, risk-based inspection - RBI, and QA/QC in plant construction and modification projects will be a plus.
• Strong safety background and awareness of HSE principles in turnaround environments.
