Specific Responsibilities

The Production Engineer II is responsible for the day to day operations of the wells and facilities in their area of responsibility and specific assignments as directed by their Manager.  This a 14/14 rotational position.

  • Serve as the field-based “Production Expert” within Central Area on a 14/14 field rotation reporting to the Production GM’s. Support continual improvement of Production Operations.
  • Ensure alignment with Apache corporate and functional objectives by prioritizing safe operations, delivering production targets, and maintaining strict fiscal discipline.
  • Oversee water flood operations including source &  produced water reinjection systems, injection well performance, and reservoir optimization support across the fields.
  • Provide technical oversight of the Salam main oil process facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
  • Monitor and optimize production well performance, gathering system capacity, and identify pipeline and facility debottlenecking opportunities to increase production and system reliability.
  • Provide oversight of contractor-operated RPFs, drive performance improvements, and intervene when service delivery, safety, reliability, injection targets, or cost control expectations are not met.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate work with other departments such as Maintenance, Asset Integrity (Corrosion team), Lab, Drilling & Completions, Prod Ops/Eng to optimize resources and minimize downtime / deferrals.
  • Ensure adherence to KPC policies and procedures; hold all KPC staff and contractors accountable for compliance with EH&S standards.
  • Conduct EH&S audits, update & create SOP’s, ensure accurate Risk Assessments are completed in a timely manner, and take part in incident investigations ensuring lessons learned are applied.    
  • Mentor, guide, and develop KPC production staff, ensuring proper stewardship of KPC-owned assets within contractor-operated facilities.
  • Support projects through construction, commissioning, and startup, ensuring operational readiness, cost control, and performance alignment.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

•    BS Degree in Engineering Discipline
•    5 years experience working in an international JV environment
•    5-10 years operations experience all types of oil and gas operations: wells and well behaviours, artificial lift, gathering systems, water flood, oil and gas process systems, rotating equipment, compression, pipelines, safety programs, etc. 
•    Proficiency at using the industry standard suite of Microsoft Office applications
•    Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic integrated team environment & communicate effectively across disciplines.
•    Strong communication skills, be a self starter in identifying opportunities, overcoming obstacles and pursuing initiatives through to completion.
