Specific Responsibilities
The Position Senior Material Corrosion and Inspection Engineer for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Operations/Asset Integrity team, reporting to the Asset Integrity Manager.
This position is an individual contributor role as the Senior Materials, Corrosion & Inspection Engineer seconded to APACHE/EGPC JV, Khalda Petroleum Company.
The purpose of the Material Corrosion and Inspection Engineer role is to ensure technical integrity, quality and overall integration of the materials and inspection discipline to deliver required availability, reliability and performance.
The jobholder is responsible for the development and execution of the Inspection and Corrosion Management strategies, plans and programs to maintain integrity of static equipment and assets.
Responsibilities for this role are:
• Manages the development and execution of the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) program and Corrosion Management Strategy.
• Embeds processes/programs to achieve sound Asset Integrity Performance.
• Ensures implementation and embedment of Apache strategy, core values, policies, procedures and expectations within the Asset integrity department.
• Accountable for ensuring that all deliverables associated with the materials and inspection discipline meet minimum safety, technical and quality requirements and that risks are managed in a cost-effective way.
• Accountable for implementation and development of safe and competitive materials selection and solutions and ensuring process safety of the systems.
• Develop/support plans for life cycle materials selection & performance, corrosion management strategy/framework, chemical treatment strategy, risk analysis and risk-based inspection.
• Recommend integrity operating windows based on process conditions and degradation mechanisms.
• Develop and support work processes to create and maintain the Materials Selection Report and Corrosion Management Framework.
• Provide guidance and input to technology development, engineering standards, and best practices.
• Support Apache Wells development when required and agreed.
• Participate in technical audits and reviews, HAZOPs.
• Ensures all credible corrosion threats are managed effectively and that all applicable equipment and structures are suitable for service.
• Manages the team to deliver the annual Inspection and Corrosion Management scopes for Routine and TAR works.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships within projects and operations/maintenance.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
• A first degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Inspection Engineering or a related engineering discipline from a recognized, accredited institution.
• Extensive experience, >10 years, in Materials, Corrosion and Inspection role related to plant and equipment in Hydrocarbon production or process industry.
• Solid knowledge and practical experience in Corrosion Management, Inspection programs and techniques and QA/QC in plants construction and Modification projects.
• Core discipline mastery for materials selection, welding and materials specification requirements with sound background in onshore facilities, metallurgy, coatings, cathodic protection, welding, equipment design, and corrosion degradation modes.
• Skill in Degradation Mechanisms and Corrosion Control Systems, including Chemical Inhibition and use of Corrosion modelling tools.
• Skill in Materials Failure investigation and Integrity and repair assessment.
• Knowledge in RBI.
• Experienced with models used to predict corrosion and erosion.
• Training: API 510/570, RBI Training / exposure, knowledge of Welding Engineering and QA/QC processes would be an advantage, and CSWIP 3.1/3.2 would also be an advantage.
