Specific Responsibilities

The expatriate Geophysicist Advisor for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Geoscience team within our Egypt Asset at the company’s Cairo, Egypt office and assigned to the KPC joint venture exploration team. This position will report to the Director of Geophysics.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
•    Identify exploration opportunities and fully characterize prospect risks and resource potential 
•    Mature into exploration well proposals by preparing structure maps of all reservoirs, integrating seismic data and appropriate derivatives with well all control 
•    Provide geophysical support for efficient exploration drilling design and safe drilling operations
•    Planning and executing exploration wells and providing post-drill lookbacks on every well
•    Collaborate with Development team in hand-off of newly discovered fields
•    Sharing all findings from exploration studies for future use in field development
•    Mentoring junior staff on workflows and successful geophysical methods

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

•    Proven oil finder with 20+ years oil and gas exploration and development experience with a major IOC; minimum a relevant M.S. degree
•    Significant experience in Egypt Western Desert petroleum systems
•    Expert assessment of conventional reservoir volumes and risk in various depositional and structural settings
•    Expert with industry standard seismic interpretation software packages (Petrel experience a plus) 
•    Strong seismic interpreter with focus on exploration. Strong data integration, mapping, and workstation skills
•    Accurate structural interpretation and depth conversion essential; seismic stratigraphy skills a plus
•    Understanding of quantitative geophysical products and methods for lithology prediction and structural interpretation
•    Experience with probabilistic volumetric and risk assessments 
•    Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information
•    Excellent communication skills – presentation experience to management and JV partners; effectively communicates work procedures to relevant personnel
•    Ability to work and drive recommendations in a fast-paced environment within an integrated multi-discipline team from concept through implementation
•    Excellent time management skills; mature and professional attitude
•    Cultural awareness and sensitivity

Experience with the below software applications is preferred:
•    Petrel and Studio
•    GEOX, Spotfire
•    Microsoft Office Suite
