Specific Responsibilities

The Senior Facilities Engineer for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Onshore Facilities Engineering & Projects department at the company’s KPC office reporting to the Facilities Engineering Director.

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for the design, development, optimization, and maintenance of surface production facilities supporting oil and gas operations. This role ensures that facilities are safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant with all regulatory and environmental standards. The Facilities Engineer works closely with production operations and production engineering teams to deliver projects that maximize production and minimize costs across the asset life cycle. The support will range from daily operations support to major capital greenfield projects. They will work closely with different engineering disciplines, field operations, and engineering contractors. 

Key Responsibilities
• Design & Development
• Plan, design, and implement surface facilities, including separation, compression, dehydration, pumping, storage, and transportation systems.
• Prepare technical specifications, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment datasheets.
•    Provide engineering feasibility, execution strategy, and project economic support before and during conceptualization and scoping.
• Project Engineering & Execution
• Lead feasibility studies, cost estimates, and economic evaluations for facility projects.
• Oversee construction, installation, and commissioning of facilities, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and safety standards.
• Interface with contractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
• Operations Support & Optimization
• Monitor facility performance and recommend improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce downtime, and extend equipment life.
• Provide engineering input into operating, maintenance, commissioning, and start-up procedures
• Troubleshoot facility bottlenecks, process upsets, and reliability issues.
• Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and asset integrity management
 Programs.
Experience in executing minor modifications with proficiency in working with P&IDs, PFDs, and heat & material balance. 
• Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance
• Ensure all facilities comply with HSE regulations, corporate standards, and environmental requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments, HAZOPs, and safety reviews for new and existing facilities.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
• Work with reservoir, production operations, and production engineers to align surface facility design with subsurface strategies.
• Support field operations with training, technical guidance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
•  Experience in working in joint venture environments and gaining cross organization support on projects and initiatives 

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related Engineering discipline (Master’s preferred for senior roles).
• 3–10 years of experience in oil and gas facilities engineering (onshore/offshore, upstream/midstream).
• Strong knowledge of process engineering, piping systems, rotating equipment, and material selection.
•    Experience and knowledge of fluid flow principles, pipe flow assurance, thermal systems, mechanical design, structural analysis, pressure relief systems, and process modeling
• Familiarity with international design codes and standards (API, ASME, ASTM, AGA, ISO, NFPA).
• Proficiency with engineering software such as SLB PipeSim, Aspentech HYSYS, BRE ProMax, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
• Strong project management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Experience in brownfield modifications and debottlenecking.
