Specific Responsibilities

Job Summary
Supervises a team of drilling engineers that are dedicated to specific asset(s) and/or project(s). Responsible for continuous improvement in the design and execution of drilling oil and gas wells and closely track key performance indicators to demonstrate progress towards achieving EH&S and departmental goals. Ensures functional standards are practices are adhered to in well design, drilling programs, cost estimates, AFE's, and final well reports. 

Job Duties & Responsibilities
•    Provide guidance to asset drilling engineers to ensure accurate estimates for capital budgets, scoping costs, AFEs, actual well costs, and accruals. 
•    Ensures consistent fit for purpose well design and detailed drilling programs which meets functional standards. 
•    Ensures retention of lessons learned to be shared across the department for improved performance. 
•    Develops relationships with other disciplines within the assets to be recognized as a team player.
•    Interacts with Service Companies/Contractors to ensure best product is delivered for the best value to Apache.
•    Keeps abreast of new technologies and encourages his/her team to implement where applicable.
 

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

Skills
•    Strong technical background with the ability to design and implement well programs. 
•    Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills for interfacing with all levels of the organization. 
•    Strong organization and communication skills, self-motivated, well organized, creative and results oriented. 
•    Ability to effectively work with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve division related goals. 
•    Demonstrated technical and communication abilities to assess and present to all levels of the organization including peers, division and senior management, and various corporate groups. 

Education
•    Minimum of B.S. Degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent

Experience
•    7+ years Drilling experience (onshore drilling experience preferred, but will accept a mix of onshore and offshore drilling)
•    Unconventional experience preferred but not required.
