Specific Responsibilities
The UK External Affairs Representative for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Communications and Public Affairs team at the company’s Aberdeen, Scotland office reporting to the Manager of Media & Public Relations.
This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
- Serve as a key strategic advisor to the country manager on external affairs matters related to UK and the broader region including external communications, public relations, company branding, trade association management, public affairs issues management, government engagement and corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives
- In partnership with external communications:
- Develop key messages regarding region strategy, operational updates, ESG/CSR initiatives, draft external products, speeches and talking points for senior leadership.
- Prepare content in many forms and styles: news releases, presentations, speaking notes and full remarks, talking points, websites, advertisements, video scripts, social media posts, etc.
- Media Relations: prepare media responses, manage interview requests and responses, identify and develop media opportunities to share Apache news and community ESG/CSR initiatives.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key media
- Monitor traditional and digital media
- Manage day to day work with outside consultants. Administer contract and assist in contract negotiation.
- Manage all external events including managing sponsorship, speaking engagements, booth design and content, event staffing and promotional items.
- Serve as a member of the crisis communications response team
- In partnership with government affairs and community engagement:
- Support APA leadership, U.K. country manager and team with diplomatic engagements with key government officials and trade and business associations
- Advise community engagement team and support ongoing work in the community through strategic counsel
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- External communications experience; and
- Relevant Bachelor's degree required.
