Position Description & Duties:

The Senior Subsea Project Engineer for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Projects Team at the company’s Aberdeen office.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:


  • Actively participate in safety programs and safety meetings
  • Ensure safety is addressed in all aspects of work planning and execution
  • Provide leadership to engineers, support staff and vendors; set tone of execution excellence
  • Be accountable for Project delivery

Resource Planning

  • Identify Project resource requirements
  • Idenitfy contract resources to meet gaps in in-house resources as required to execute Project

Project Execution Oversight

  • Prepare screening level cost estimates and schedules during conceptual and defintion phases
  • Lead disciplines greenfield/brownfield assessments covering but not limited to tie ins point suitability /standardisation /capacity /space / drawing accuracy
  • Develop scopes of work for engineering contractors once concept is agreed
  • Co-ordinate and obtain endorsement / approval of project deliverables per the Project Approval Matrix
  • Ensure cost and schedule estimates are generated 
  • Develop and coordinate detailed work execution plans
  • Monitor status and evaluate performance in relation to overall job schedule, costs and quality
  • Manage the prime engineering, procurement and construction contracts within a safety, cost, schedule and quality framework
  • Ensure the development and execution of project deliverables where required, including but not limited to the following
    • Project purpose and objective
    • Project Execution Plan
    • Project Design Basis
    • Brownfield Assessment
    • Construction Plan
    • Startup and Commissioning Plan
    • Pre-Startup Safety Review
  • Apply quality plan requirements to contractors/vendors and provide support to Project auditing
  • Ensure required services, equipment and materials are bid, selected and procured in adherence to Apache procurement processes.
  • Develop purchase order requests, material and service procurement
  • Ensure Independent Verification Body (IVB) requirements are defined and completed in accordance with the project execution plan (UK offshore only)
  • Lead transition of the Project to Engineering & Operations during offshore commissioning and start-up including risk assessments and actions
  • Ensure project learnings are captured and available to be shared with the Projects organisation
  • Ensure closeout reports are completed and all required documentation is filed per Apache requirements
  • Interface with Functional and Operations leadership frequently to advise of relevant changes and resolve Project issues as they occur






Preferred & Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor or Masters Engineering Degree
  • Solid Project Execution Experience (Subsea bias including diver, ROV, subsea construction, DSV/ROVSV)
  • Full understanding of standard practices and interfacing requirements with Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors
  • Strong analytical, leadership, negotiation and communication skills
  • Domestic, international and offshore travel (platform and vessel) required
