Specific Responsibilities

 

The Houston based Surface Land Representative Sr is responsible for supporting the respective Asset Team in managing the company’s surface leasehold, to satisfy the needs and requirements of the ongoing operations and the company rig schedule. This work includes negotiating with industry partners, title review and curative, maintaining critical obligations and dates on existing contracts, as well as coordinating and managing long term relationships with internal stakeholders, private landowners, field landman, attorneys, operators, surveyors and state or federal agencies. The position is expected to provide direct oversight of operations and subcontractors in the field in order to mitigate risk and avoid delay. Periodic travel to the field is required for this position. Other responsibilities may include:

 

  • Work with members of Land department and other company disciplinaries, independent brokers, landowners, attorneys and government agencies for preparation of developing company assets.
  • Ability to analyze oil and gas leases and exploration and production contracts
  • Assist in drafting and negotiating Surface Use Agreements, Right of Ways, saltwater disposal agreements and shared use agreements with landowners and other operators.
  • Assist in prepare and negotiate appropriate contracts and agreements to facilitate operations.
  • Assist in drafting, preparing, and circulating for signature all relevant negotiated contracts and agreements.
  • Represent the company's interests in-person at industry, partner, and other relevant stakeholder meetings.
  • Assist in coordinating with and providing direct oversight of field surveyors for all staking activity to ensure quality control.
  • Present and participate in presentations to senior management, functional leads, asset team members and other internal stakeholders.
  • Distribute and file original paperwork in accordance with the project needs and company guidelines. 

Qualifications & Experience

 

EDUCATION:

  • BS/BA in Petroleum Land Management, Energy or Business Management

EXPERIENCE:          

  • 5+ years of experience as Petroleum Landman with either a Major and/or Independent Oil & Gas Company, or 7 years of related field broad-based working experience in Surface Land traditional operations, or other relevant experience.
  • Experience interacting with TX RRC, GLO, & University Lands.
  • Experience in the Permian & Delaware Basins inclusive of the State of New Mexico is a plus.
  • Experience working in Quorum Land Applications
